Whether you are revitalising tired timber, slick laminate, laminex, metal, wicker, or even fabric and tiles, this paint is designed to adhere beautifully without the headache of heavy sanding or priming.

Preparing Your Canvas

While this paint is magic in a tin, a clean foundation is the secret to a lasting finish.

Clean: Ensure your item is free of loose material, mildew, or rust. We recommend a thorough wipe-down with sugar soap or methylated spirits to banish dirt, grease, and oil. Make sure to wipe away any cleaning residue before you begin.

The "Scuff" Sand: For highly polished surfaces, laminate, or melamine, a gentle "scuff sand" (using 180–220 grit paper) creates a key for the paint to hold onto. Be sure to remove all sanding dust.

A Note on Tannins: If you are working with tannin-rich antique timbers, we strongly recommend applying a stain blocker first. This essential step prevents those natural oils from leaching through and discolouring your beautiful new finish.

Painting & Perfecting

Stir & Apply: Give the can a good stir to lift any contents sitting on the bottom. Apply 1, 2, or 3 coats using a brush or roller, depending on the look you want to achieve.

The Wait: It’s wonderfully fast-drying—touch dry in roughly 30 minutes and ready for a recoat in just 1 to 2 hours, depending on the weather.

The Finish: Once you are happy with the coverage, seal your masterpiece with Wax or Clear Top Coat. The paint will be fully cured after 7 days.

Tips for a Flawless Finish

To ensure your piece looks as professional as possible, here are a few of our favourite studio secrets.

The Right Tool: For the best application and texture, we recommend using a dedicated Chalk Furniture Paint brush. These brushes are designed to hold the paint beautifully and help you achieve that signature look.

Painting in the Heat: Chalk paint dries quickly, which is great, but in hot Australian weather, it can sometimes dry too fast. Keep a misting spray bottle filled with water nearby. A gentle spritz on your brush or the surface will keep the paint workable and prevent drag marks.

The Smooth Touch: While sanding isn't required for adhesion, a very light sand between coats will knock back any brush strokes and provide a buttery-smooth, professional finish.

Waxing Wisdom: When it comes time to seal your work, apply your wax using a wax brush or a lint-free cloth. Pro tip: If using a cloth, try to choose one that is a similar colour to your paint (or white). This ensures no rogue lint fibres show up in your final finish!

Returns – Paint & Paint Accessories

Due to the nature of our paint and paint accessories, returns for change of mind are not accepted.

If your paint or accessory arrives faulty or damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide clear photos.

Once assessed, and in line with Australian Consumer Law, we will offer either:

• a full refund, including original shipping, or
• a replacement item, sent at no extra cost.
